Complete the baseline FEMA online modules (IS-315.a and IS-317.a if required) covering basic CERT emergency management principles.

Attend a recognized (as required) CERT Basic Training for hands-on training and drills simulating active disaster and the response of team coordination.

Investigate/Join (or build) a community/local CERT disaster response network... Arrange to meet with others for training on a regular basis to maintain CERT Readiness.

The below CERT on-line trainings covers basic principals of disaster operations to ensure every volunteer can function safely within a cohesive unit. These FEMA Independent Study (IS) course: 317.a and 315.a are highly recommended (but, may NOT be required).
